MBA “General Management” – Study objectives

Our MBA programme “General Management” is primarily – but not exclusively – aimed at graduates of non-economic studies. We also address academics with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in economics with a few years of work experience who are highly interested in their professional and personal development. You can complete the Master of Business Administration in German or English language.

Business skills you acquire with the MBA “General Management”

The MBA “General Management” at Düsseldorf Business School is a strategically-oriented management programme. Participants graduate with a Master’s degree from Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf. Thanks to a varied combination of theory and practice, you will specifically expand your qualifications and know-how from your first degree and professional work to include leadership and management skills at an academic level. These include – among others – business law, controlling, accounting, human resources strategies and marketing.

If you apply for the MBA “General Management” programme and are admitted, you will acquire and/or deepen the following skills during the course of your studies:

  • to identify goals and paradigms behind economically driven decisions,
  • to analyze economic problems and solve them with help of adequate business instruments and methods,
  • to analyze complex links between various sub-functions in companies and other organisations,
  • to manage interfaces between sub-functions,
  • to manage business units entrepreneurially on the basis of economic goals,
  • to strategically adapt organisations to changing environmental and competitive conditions.
  • To communicate efficiently with specialists from different sections,
  • to also work on your own personal development due to new learning experiences and intensive group interaction,
  • to lead and motivate others.

The MBA “General Management” programme systematically links theoretical principles with the practical experience of the lecturers involved in the curriculum. The achievement of the study objectives is supported by working in groups, solving case studies and completing an application-related Master’s thesis.
