Our structure

Düsseldorf Business School is characterised by two essential structural features.

One of these is that the school is closely connected to Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf through a cooperation agreement. This especially means that the examinations for obtaining the Master degree are administered by the university, and that the Master degree is awarded by the university. Moreover, Düsseldorf Business School has the legal structure of a GmbH with different types of shareholders. Alongside the University of Düsseldorf and professors of the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics, leading businesses and institutions in the Düsseldorf region contribute, above all, practically-relevant instruction to the school via the involvement of guest lecturers from different industries.

The managing director of Düsseldorf Business School is a professor of the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics at the Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf. Central strategic decisions as well as decisions regarding the admission to study are made by the Academic Advisory Board, whose members are composed from the university administration, representatives of business companies, and university professors from the Faculty for Business Administration and Economics. The board is directed by a professor from the Faculty for Business Administration and Economics. The school receives intensive advising and assistance through the board of trustees, with individuals from the university and leading companies in the Düsseldorf region.

Our institutions

The Düsseldorf Business School is organised in the legal structure of a GmbH (Ltd.). Its shareholders are Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf, notable companies in the region of Düsseldorf, and individual faculty professors.

A cooperation agreement exists between Düsseldorf Business School and Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf, which stipulates that exams are administered by the university as well as the ways in which students of the business school have access to university resources (i.e. the library).

This model of “Public Private Partnership” combines the university’s reputation and quality assurance with the flexibility and the entrepreneurial knowledge of private business.

The board of trustees, being comprised of a wide range of persons from the academic sphere and businesses, counsels the general assembly and the Academic Advisory Board on every issue regarding premium quality further education.

All central strategic decisions are made by the Academic Advisory Board of Düsseldorf Business School. In this board, representatives of the university rectorate of Heinrich Heine University as well as representatives from business companies advise and decide.

The managing director of the GmbH is a professor of the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf, who is supported by additional specialised personnel in the school administration.
